ASBMB 2027 Annual Award Nominations

Nominations will open March 20, 2026.

Join your fellow ASBMB members in celebrating exceptional science and its impactful applications for the greater good. These awards recognize individuals with a diverse background of experiences, ideas and perspectives for a variety of activities in the field, including innovation, sustained commitment to breaking down barriers and exceptional contributions to teaching. 

Eligibility: nominators and nominees must be current ASBMB members. For the Wang and Vallee awards only, non-member nominees are permitted.

What to have ready for a nomination submission

• Nominee name, institution and degree.
• Nominee's condensed curriculum vitae (CV) — note, the Tabor Award requires a full CV that lists service to ASBMB.
• A nomination letter describing why the nominee is qualified for the award.
• Two supporting letters from others who are familiar with the nominee’s contributions.
• The nominee’s five most significant publications, sharing a complete citation and 1–2 sentences describing the significance for each.
• Confirmation that, to your knowledge, the nominee has behaved consistently with the standards articulated in the current ASBMB Code of Conduct. All nominees will be informed of professional conduct expectations for awards.

The selected awardees will be asked to provide a talk during the 2027 ASBMB Annual Meeting set to take place in Boston, MA, April 3–6, 2027.

• ASBMB Earl and Thressa Stadtman Young Scholar Award
• The Alice and C.C. Wang Award in Molecular Parasitology
• ASBMB Walter A. Shaw Young Investigator Award in Lipid Research

Submit a nomination

Review and selection

After the submission deadline, the selecting committee for each award reviews and selects a nominee. Nominees and nominators will be notified of their nomination status in August, with public announcements of award recipients following soon after. 

The following groups select each award:

• The ASBMB Awards Committee (or a subcommittee thereof) selects the Tabor, Cohn, Stadtman, Vallee, and DeLano awards. The ASBMB Lipid Research Division selects the Shaw award.
• The ASBMB Women in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Committee selects the Leadership award.
• The ASBMB Education & Professional Development Committee selects the Rose award.
• The ASBMB Maximizing Access Committee selects the Kirschstein award.
• The Wang Award Selection Committee selects the Wang award.
