Candidate review process and election
After the submission deadline, members of ASBMB’s Nominating Committee review the nominations and discuss candidates for vacant elected positions. In its deliberations, the Committee considers myriad factors of diversity including scientific expertise, institution, and other demographic information. The group also considers factors like relevant leadership experience and previous involvement with ASBMB. The Nominating Committee will finalize a slate for member election that includes two candidate for President-elect (one will be elected), four candidates for councilor (two will be elected), two candidates for Nominating Committee (one will be elected), and four candidates for Publications Committee (two will be elected). ASBMB works with a third party partner to administer the election.
